Dan Walker is a Pou Tuarā of Ngāti Ruanui iwi, Director of NZ Māori Tourism and ATEED (Auckland Tourism Events and Economic Development), Cloud Applications Solutions Lead at Microsoft NZ, and most importantly, a proud dad to three awesome tamariki Josh, Ty and Maia.
Overcoming childhood hardship and a disconnection to who he was, he found his path with business success during his 20’s becoming a national sales manager of large teams here and globally at organisations such as Samsung, Dell and now Microsoft. His passion is indigenising our corporates both here in NZ and globally – He has recently been named Global Co-Chair of Microsoft Indigenous Diversity Pillar. Their goal is to create a strategy for Microsoft global to engage with indigenous communities. His other passion is the concept of utilising a tikanga approach to combating algorythmic bias in AI which is the subject of his masters research – Tikanga Māori ki te Ao Matihiko (Māori Values as a Framework for Digital Leadership).
